1700 Oak Street
Kansas City, MO 64108
Built in 1903, this four-story building was home to the Hese &
Son Carriage Co. The company was founded in 1857 to repair prairie
schooners for settlers, and later made fine carriages. In the 20th
century, it switched to building bodies for beverage trucks, including
the first Coca-Cola delivery truck. During World War II, it made
fire trucks for the military.
A $10M renovation will begin in early
2007 and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2008. After renovation,
there will be eight two-bedroom and 38 one-bedroom units. Rents
will range from $445 to $610 per month.
